JOHN S. LEGGATE, CBE

CHAIRMAN

John is highly experienced as an energy sector executive and is a venture investor in ‘’clean tech’’ and digital technologies. John has considerable  international  Board experience and is currently Chair of the Gresham House Energy Storage Fund and on the board of the  cybersecurity firm Global Integrity in Washington DC. John is a senior advisor in the energy sector to “blue chip” international consultants and senior advisor to Dial Partners.

In his very successful career in BP, John’s key executive roles included President of the Azerbaijan Oil and Gas Company, Group Chief Information Officer (CIO), Executive responsible for BP’s Global Supply Chain, and Executive accountable for BP’s global cyber and physical security.

John’s other domains of expertise include commercialisation of technology, funding and scaling-up technology-based companies. He brings in prior board level experience in a variety of companies, such as: 

• Advising on digitisation of oil and gas/energy sector; 

• Board member of an innovative wind turbine company; 

• Board member of wave/marine energy company;

• Advisor to Middle East based power generation and desalination company;

• Advisory board member for enterprise level software company in the business intelligence area; 

• Board member of a privately held cyber security technology company.

John is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, where he is a member of the Deep Tech Review Panel which targets the growth of technology start-ups and is actively involved in mentoring CEOs and Founders.
